The Best Espresso in Town!

Every single morning before arriving to work, Amy stops by her local Starbucks and orders her usual venti latte. They know her there by name and are happy to send her on her way with her triple espresso shot drink. Amy said that her morning espresso kick starts her day and without it, well, you would probably find her half asleep at her desk, struggling to focus on her work.

Espresso can be a vital part of someone’s day, like Amy. Did you know that over 55% of the US drink espresso? That percentage is equivalent to 150 million people! That’s A LOT of espresso!

Did you also know that Espresso is 90% water! It is a key essential ingredient in espresso preparation. So having a water filtration system becomes a must, especially in areas with hard water. Not having filtered water will affect the taste of your espresso as well as the lifespan of your equipment.  So what is the best water filtration system for your espresso machine?   Well, here’s a couple options to consider: The Claris System 5-Stage Filtration Process

  • Pre-filtration
  • Carbonate hardness adjustment
  • Fine filtration
  • Highly efficient carbon block removes harmful contaminant and unpleasant odors and tastes
  • Solid membrane filter removes particles down to 5 micron for highest equipment protection
  • Operates in vertical or horizontal position

3 -Stage Blending: Softens, Buffers, and Filters Water
  • Utilizes ion exchange resin with buffering capabilities and high capacity coconut carbon filtration
  • A small amount of carbon filtered water bypasses softening resin to allow proper initial hardness.
  • Buffering prevents water from becoming too acidic.
  • It also reduces hardness in water that can cause minerals to build-up in espresso equipment.
  • It also reduces chlorine, off tastes and odors. Cartridge replacement is simple, quick and clean.

Depending on your espresso machine and water quality needs, your commercial water filtration system may differ. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to help you in sizing the right system.

Coke Freestyle and Everpure!

Ever since Coca-Cola came out with their new Freestyle Coke Machine, we’ve been getting call after call on Everpure’s CLM filtration systems! WHY? Because Everpure CLM has recently been validated by a third party lab to meet the tccc specifications for point of use filtration systems for the Freestyle machines! Hooray!! Being an Everpure master distributor, we are proud to carry this line of CLM water filter systems. But why the CLM line? What is CLM? I’m glad you asked! CLM is short for chloramine. As you might know, chloramine is a chemical compound made by reacting ammonia with the active ingredient in chlorine bleach. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, chloramines provide better protection against bacterial regrowth in water system. But chloramines can still effect the taste and odor of your water and can cause, through time, damage to your water applications. The specifications for the Coke Freestyle machine requires all taste and odor to be removed, the chlorine/chloramine levels to be less then 0.5 ppm, and sediment removal. Everpure’s CLM line meets all the filtration requirements for the Freestyle machine. It reduces chloramines, chlorine and other offensive contaminants that can adversely effect the taste and odor of the beverage. It’s sub-micron technology reduces dirt and particles 1/2 micron in size.  It improves the taste of fountain beverages and helps retain the drink’s carbonation. Have you ever received a complaint that your soda taste flat? Well, here’s your solution! The CLM line also protects your drink system’s seals, pump, tubing and small orifices from clogging, corrosion and abrasive wear. It is also NSF certified under NSF/ANSI Standards 42 and 53. The CLM line comes in single, twin, triple and quad systems. We also have systems with a pre-filtration option. So if you are apart of a restaurant using a Coca-cola Freestyle machine or you currently service a Freestyle machine, contact us today for more information on Everpure’s CLM line and how we can help you. News From Pentair's Water Initiatives

More than one billion people around the world, most of them in developing nations, lack access to safe water. The result is that preventable waterborne diseases continue to be a leading cause of illness and death globally. Every day, approximately 25,000 people, mainly children in developing countries, die from preventable waterborne diseases, according to the World Health Organization. Pentair has been in search of a solution that not only brings safe water to communities in need, but also ensures that the solution is sustainable at the community level, taking into consideration the complex economic, cultural and geographical constraints that need to be addressed. The solution also needs to have validating methods and standard practices that can be replicated around the world. To accomplish this, the Pentair Foundation funded a multi-year research program in remote Colón, Honduras. The results of the five year program and the impact on the lives of the people in Colón have been profound. The results demonstrated that sustainable access to safe water and adequate sanitation can be provided cost-effectively, and that the health and welfare of the recipients can be significantly improved. Additionally, to ensure that safe treated water continues to be available beyond Pentair’s initial funding period, a microenterprise business model was established, where the local community owns the water treatment systems and users pay their communities a nominal fee for potable water. The individual user fee is established by the local community to cover the ongoing operation and maintenance of their system. Once installed, the system costs pennies per person per day to operate. Leveraging this success, Pentair is partnering around the world by putting its grants, technology and talent to work for communities in need of clean drinking water. By engaging community partners and equipping them with our extensive product portfolio and technical water distribution systems expertise, we are measurably improving water safety and sanitation worldwide. Understanding that everyone’s efforts add up to more effective answers, Pentair is leading through partnership to find a sustainable solution to the global water crisis. Pentair invites others to join in working toward a world where everyone has access to quality water supply. We are making our findings and models publicly available to other organizations and municipalities interested in replicating these cost-effective methods. By turning industry insights into collaborative proactive plans and on-the-ground tools, we are confident that even the most challenging issues can be solved when we unite around smart ideas. What Your Unfiltered Water Contains…

Think about where your water comes from….and we don’t just mean the sink! Expand your mind and remember that water comes from unclean, natural resources like rivers and lakes, which contain pollution and contaminants that are unfit for consumption. To be clean, the water should undergo a number of treatments necessary to make it drinkable.

Specifically in tap water is:

  • Toxic heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper, cadmium and aluminum
  • Volatile organic chemicals, such as pesticides and herbicides
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Chemicals from irresponsible manufacturers
  • Personal care chemicals
  • Household cleaning products
  • Water treatment additives such as chlorine, fluoride, and other toxic chemicals
  • Bacteria and viruses such as giardia, cryptosporidium, coliform and E-coli
  • Toxic Heavy Metals

Water purifiers are specifically designed to eliminate or reduce these certain pollutants that are in our drinking water. They also improve the quality and taste of the water by eliminating its chlorine content. It is virtually impossible to know what is in tap water at any given time because municipal water quality as well as private well water varies from place to place, season to season, and house to house. Even if all of the toxic metals could be completely filtered at the local water treatment facility, they could still end up in your drinking water because rust and sediment build up in the water pipes within our homes. Even this minimal exposure can cause symptoms similar to the flu, such as headaches, diarrhea, cramps, nausea or vomiting. The only way we can have any control over the quality of water we drink is by having a personal water filter system. Filtered drinking water is the most reliable and least expensive way to get healthy water!

Everpure Claris Saves Money And Offers Better Tasting Water

Everpure ClarisFood managers and restaurant owners looking for a high-quality commercial water filter system to decrease the costs of regular deliming will be impressed by Everpure Claris. This water softening and filtration system can save operators up to $2,500 annually, not to mention provide a crystal clear glass of iced tea to thirsty customers. Unlike reverse osmosis water filtration systems, Everpure Claris does not remove all minerals from the water. Minerals add flavor to drinks, so the filtration system allows the operator to adjust the relative water softness of the water supply, thus controlling of the alkalinity and mineral content of the water. Meanwhile, the five-step filtration process removes all unpleasant particles, odors and tastes. Everpure Claris blends perfectly to create great-tasting beverages every time. It also reduces scale in direct-injection steam ovens, which can save operators $1,400 in energy costs. Owners save another $1,100 by eliminating the expensive deliming process associated with hard water. In tests by Everpure, replacing a resin filter with Claris reduced water hardness grains by 50 percent. It’s also environmentally friendly when compared to a reverse osmosis water filtration system, which wastes two to three gallons of water for every gallon of purified water it creates. The savings on maintenance is reason enough to consider Everpure Claris Water Filter System. Customer satisfaction is simply the icing on the cake.

Installation & Setup Tips

Everpure Claris is less expensive to acquire than reverse osmosis systems, takes up less space, and is easy to install. The system can be mounted horizontally or vertically to the wall or be a freestanding unit.

  • To mount and install, simply attach the included bracket to the wall and attach the hoses to the proper filter head.
  • Lead a flush hose into a waste container or into a drain.
  • Turn the filter head clockwise after you insert the filter cartridge in order to flush the cartridge.
  • Align marks on the mounting bracket to the marks on the cartridge.
  • After closing the flush/pressure release value, the system is ready for operation.

After installation, owners will need to adjust the bypass level according to their specific needs. A guide to determining ideal water hardness is supplied. Maintenance requires only the occasional filter change. As stated previously, scale and lime will no longer be an issue. Protect your equipment and deliver the best-tasting beverages in town with Everpure Claris.

What is Chloramine?

How to Remove it from your Water

For decades, chlorine has been the chemical disinfectant additive of choice for municipal water utilities throughout the United States. Recent changes in the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act, however, are likely to adversely affect that traditional choice. The Act now includes the Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule, which mandates stricter controls of byproducts like trihalomethanes (THM). THM results from the reaction of chlorine with naturally-occurring organics found in pipelines and delivery systems. The EPA now requires that municipalities measure THM and maintain minimum ppm within the water system. The chemical disinfectant additive of the future is likely to be chloramine (NH2Cl), an inorganic compound created when a small amount of ammonia is added to chlorine. Like chlorine, the new compound is effective as a primary disinfectant, or as a “shock” treatment. Since it doesn’t dissipate as readily as chlorine gas, the compound is able to disinfect even to the far ends of the municipal pipelines. This helps make NH2Cl a cost-effective alternative to chlorine. The downside, however, is that chloramines are believed to be carcinogenic. The possible carcinogenic effects, as well as the direct affects chloramines have on some food service delivery system parts and taste quality of beverages make chloramine removal an important consideration for food service companies. Standard carbon filters already in place are not effective because chloramines require substantially more of the highest-quality carbon for effective filtration. Additionally, chloramines need more contact time with carbon because the chloramines-carbon reaction is weak. chloramine reductionEverpure has a solution in its new chloramine filter products. The quick-change system offers a balanced particulate/chloramines reduction capacity that will prove cost-effective for food service companies. The CLM Chloramine Cartridge systems fit all existing QC heads, which allows an easy transition from current chlorine filtration to chloramine filter system. The highest-quality carbon is used as part of the chloramine removal cartridge system, with ratings balanced between particulate and chloramines removal. This allows food service groups to select the appropriate cartridge for their specific needs. The Everpure CLM products are designed to accommodate fountain beverage and combination systems.

Pentair Reports Exceptional Growth

Pentair Incorporated, one of FilterPure Systems leading brands has shown record growth over the last 52 weeks and during the first financial quarter 2011. Driven by sales growth in emerging markets as well as across Europe and the United States, Pentair reported $790 million in first quarter sales, improving company financials and prospects for future growth. “The first quarter was a great start to the year, with 12 percent organic revenue growth, meaningful margin expansion and excellent earnings growth. Our investments are yielding positive results, particularly evident in our geographic expansion, strong innovation and productivity gains,” said Randall J. Hogan, Pentair chairman and chief executive officer. Hogan added “Strong demand in the industrial end markets continued, along with rapid growth in fast growth markets, led by China where sales were up 26 percent. While the U.S. residential end market continues its modest recovery, demand for our energy-efficient and sustainable product offerings remains solid.” Pentair and investors alike are taking these improvements to be a positive signal for the future. While the company is banking on its hefty Q1 sales figures and growth in working capital to push free cash flow north of $240 million for the whole of 2011, investors are fixated on the firm’s 18.3 P/E ratio, a healthy margin below the industry average of 19.9, making Pentair the obvious immediate choice when considering the addition of water or technical products to the portfolio. Additionally, Pentair offered a 2.1% dividend yield, adding further allure to their present stock. The future looks bright as well. According to Hogan, Pentair’s plans for the remainder of the fiscal year include margin expansion, as well as “pricing and productivity [that] more than offset inflation.” Further bolstering Pentair’s outlook is the recently announced acquisition by the firm of Norit’s Clean Process Technologies, the 2011 winner of the Global Water Summit’s “Water Technology Company of the Year” award.
